Why have a portrait or photo done with your pets, in Regina, Sask?

One of the most compelling reasons for pet owners to have a portrait with their beloved animals is the profound emotional connection these images capture. Pets are often regarded as family members, providing unconditional love and companionship. A portrait serves as a tangible representation of that bond, allowing owners to celebrate their unique relationship. Whether it's a playful puppy or a loyal senior dog, these portraits immortalize moments in time, reminding owners of the joy their pets bring into their lives.

Additionally, having a portrait with a pet can serve as a beautiful form of self-expression for pet owners. Just as individuals choose art that resonates with their personality or experiences, a pet portrait can reflect the owner's love for their animal and their shared adventures. This artwork can adorn homes, bringing warmth and character to living spaces while also sparking conversations with guests who can appreciate the special relationship. With each glance at the portrait, pet owners are reminded of the happiness and laughter their pets inspire.

Lastly, portraits can have therapeutic benefits, especially during difficult times. Pets can be a source of comfort and support during life’s challenges, and having a portrait can serve as a reminder of the positive influence they have.

For owners who may experience grief after losing a pet, a portrait can become a cherished keepsake that allows them to cherish the memories they created together. In this way, pet portraits not only honor the life lived but also provide solace, ensuring that the love shared continues to be celebrated long after the pet has passed.

Frequently Asked Questions About having your dog Photographed by a pet photographer, in Regina, Sask

Here’s a FAQ blog post for your pet photography sessions with Lisa Brice of Brice Photography.

This covers common client concerns and adds value by reassuring pet owners that their pet’s unique personality and needs are welcomed.

What if my pet can’t be off-leash?

Your pet doesn’t need to be off-leash for our sessions! Not only is it required by law in most areas, but it’s also much safer. I’m experienced in creating beautiful portraits while keeping your dog leashed, and any leash can be edited out of the final images if needed.

Does my pet need to be well-behaved or well-trained?

Absolutely not! Your pet’s natural personality is what I want to capture. I use proven techniques to get their attention, even if they’re a bit energetic or shy. We’ll work together to bring out your pet’s unique expressions without needing them to sit or stay perfectly still. Patience is my virtue. I will wait the dog or cat our until we have the perfect image.

What if my dog doesn’t do well outdoors?

If your dog has specific triggers or struggles with outdoor sessions, we can discuss this during our consultation. I’ll do a behavior analysis to see what might cause anxiety, like other animals or people. Together, we’ll choose the best environment for them—whether it’s a quieter area or a studio setting.

What if my dog won’t sit during the session?

That’s no problem! It’s common for pets to be extra excited in a new setting. I have tricks and treats to catch their attention and capture natural poses, even if they’re in motion. Your dog’s happiness and comfort are my priority.

Do you have a studio?

Yes, I have a cozy studio located in the lower level of my home. This space is perfect for pets who may feel more comfortable indoors or have difficulty with outdoor environments. It’s also great for creating a controlled setup with different backdrops and props.

My dog is hyper or nervous in new situations; should I still bring them? Absolutely!

Hyper or nervous pets are completely welcome. I’m experienced in working with all types of pet personalities. A pre-session consultation allows us to talk through ways to help your dog feel more at ease, whether they need time to settle or a few extra breaks.

Can I be in the photos with my pet?

Yes, you’re welcome to join your pet for a few shots! Capturing the bond between you and your pet creates meaningful, memorable images that you’ll cherish forever. Let me know beforehand if you’d like to be included so we can plan for a mix of solo pet and pet-with-owner shots.

How long does a session typically last?

Most pet sessions last between 1-2 hours, depending on your pet’s comfort and attention span. We take breaks if needed, allowing your pet time to relax. The session will move at a pace that ensures your pet is comfortable and stress-free.

Are there specific locations you recommend for outdoor sessions?

Yes, I can suggest several dog-friendly locations with great backdrops for your portraits, such as parks, trails, and open fields. If your pet has a favorite spot or needs a quieter location, we can work together to find a place that fits their personality.

How can I prepare my pet for the session?

Give your pet a little exercise beforehand, bring treats or favorite toys, and make sure they’ve had water and bathroom breaks. You might also want to groom them lightly, so they feel fresh and ready to be in the spotlight.

Each question addresses common concerns, reassuring clients and encouraging them to book a session that’s tailored to their pet's unique needs.

This is an example of how we use leashs in our sessions. We may even use a leash in my studio if we need to be.
